Marty Ross is a mathematical nomad. He is an American (sort of), who completed his PhD in mathematics at Stanford University, then eventually returned home to Melbourne. He has been a lecturer at Melbourne, Monash and LaTrobe Universities.Together with his colleague Burkard Polster, he is currently involved in many projects on the popularization of mathematics, including writing an online column for The Age newspaper, and writing a book on maths in the movies.
